When you pray…

Do you ever just sit with yourself and Jesus by your side and start thinking and praying and get absolutely blown away? Maybe I should elaborate a little more on that. I’ve been trying to grow in my prayer life these past few weeks. Basically trying to make God so real in every aspect of life.

Let me use an art illustration to kinda depict how it often is with my prayer life. So suppose you’re sitting there with master artist Renoir. Well as you’re painting He’s sitting there watching you and you just look over at him every 10 mins or so and nudge him and say “yo Renoir Dawg, I’m pretty good huh?” He just smiles back at you and kinda roles his eyes. How often do we treat God like this? We have issues EVERY single day of our life. But when we pray, the one time we pray before we go to bed or right before we eat our Wheaties in the morning, we just do the same thing to God. We ask for his approval. We don’t ask for his Wisdom, we don’t ask for His experience, We don’t ask Him to make us better persons. (Keep Reading On, there’s more)

Our great God has Wisdom beyond all, I’m not even gonna try to explain that. But tell me if this isn’t a typical day’s prayer, “Lord, please be with me today as I go through the day. Let my actions be a blessing to those around me. Please bless me with my work today. Lord I have so many things to take care of today, please help me get them done. Oh and please bring me home safely, Amen.” Not a single mention of submitting my ways to the Lords. No mention of seeking his way and not my own way. The Wise King Solomon hands it to us pretty straight up:

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Ok so back to where we were on getting alone with Jesus as I mentioned at the beginning of this short essay. Here’s the text for this part of the writings.

Matthew 6:6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

This is super reminder to me to spend time Alone with my Jesus. Don’t get me wrong, you definately can and should pray even when it’s busy outside. But there is something about getting alone with God. In the busy business of the day I’ve found the 30 minute commute to be an awesome place to get with God. Then taking time out between classes, you’ve Got that gap betwixt classes, thats a super time to bust out the micro Gideon Bible and get into it with Jesus.

Reading the Bible actually gives you new things to pray over in your personal life. It initiates conviction which, gets you to respond, which results in growth. If we spent 5 minutes of every hour we’re awake alone with Jesus, can you imagine the growth and impact of our Christian lives that would take place. I’ll be the first to admit, an hour and a half of quiet time isn’t always easy to do. But 5 minutes an hour for 16 hours is manageable. Go with God my friend! Be real! He is Real!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. I’AM A MINISTER AND I WANDERED IF ANYONE WAS INTO GOD SO DEEP THAT SOMETHING LIKE THIS WOULD SURFACE. SOMETIME I GET SO DEEP INTO PRAYER WITH GOD AND SPEAK IN TOUNGES IT REALLY GETS HEAVY. PRAYER IS DEEP. VERY DEEP. YOU ARE SO RIGHT NO ONE NEVER STOP TO SEE WHAT GOD WANT IT’S ALWAYS WHAT WE DESIRE. BUT YOU KNOW IN PSLAMS 37;4 WHERE IT SAYS DELIGHT YOURSELF IN LORD HE WILL GIVE YOU THE DESIRES OF YOUR HEART. WE MOST OF THE TIME ASK FOR THING BUT DONT WHAT HE SAYS. SO THANKS FOR THE STORY.I MIGHT DO A SERMON ON THIS. THANK GOD FOR YOU. FROM: E.H.W.
